AVID(Advancement Via Individual Determination), is a nationally recognized program that provides academic and social support for ALL students to help ensure a student’s success in school, career and college. The AVID system accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional development, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.

In 鶹ý, all of our high schools and middle schools offer AVID. New for the 2024-2025 school year, we are offering AVID: 9th Grade Success to help support the transition to high school.

In AVID: 9th Grade Success, students will:
  • Build community with peers and teachers focused on supporting the transition into
    high school.
  • Engage in specific technical lessons that support student’s needs (including Outlook, OneNote, Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Receive year-long academic support in reading, writing, math and science.
  • Learn and implement focused notetaking, collaboration and study skills.
  • Participate in Socratic Seminars and tutorials.
  • Learn and implement organization strategies (with planners).
  • Participate in career and college exploration activities with designated time for High School and Beyond Plan lessons.
  • Engage in financial literacy lessons that help students prepare for their future.
  • Receive .50 CTE credit and .50 TechLit credit.
